In 2000, owner, Irene Scordos, found Athos Contracting. A Cleveland native and stay at home mother, she was blessed to have raised six beautiful children. As her children became adults, she was given an opportunity to open a female- owned business, Athos Contracting.

Over the last fifty years, her family has been involved in the construction industry in one way or another. They’ve specialized in a vast array of services that has allowed her to understand the construction industry. In 1998, Irene and her sister, Patti, opened, “ Sisters Construction, “ a full service construction cleanup company. This was just the beginning as a female business owner.

After the economy crashed, her husband lost his successful business, and the family struggled. With Irene’s history in construction and experience in the field she wanted to do something different, something bigger – so she dreamed up Athos Contracting, a rare, completely female-owned construction company, and one of the few in the state of Ohio.

Athos specializes in structural steel painting, pressure washing, concrete sealing, chemical cleaning, and construction cleanup. With so many years of experience, their quality and workmanship is unparalleled. They’re willing to work in various locations, although most work is done in Ohio, Michigan, and, Indiana.

As Irene stated, “No job is too big or too small for Athos.” While growing continuously growing the company, she hopes to inspire other women to follow their dreams: A female business owner in a predominately male industry.
